Glaiza de Castro embraces her flaws and flaunts her imperfections

Film and television actress Glaiza de Castro has publicly spoken about her “flaws” – her blemishes, her freckles, her scars, and her struggle to get rid of them.

Glaiza de Castro talks about her skin issues and how she’s moved past them.

Now she flaunts them with confidence saying that imperfections are “actually not flaws.”
“It’s part of human life. We all look different,” she told Manila Standard Life in an interview.

When she was starting out in show business, she admitted that she wasn’t too confident about the way she looked, including the color of her skin.

“I had so many encounters in the past that I felt so conscious because of my skin color. Up until now, actually, just recently on social media, I encountered people saying bad things about the way I look. I posted a photo on Instagram and there were netizens who criticized even the smallest details of my appearance,” she said.

“Sometimes it really gets to me but I always get back to my core and think that we are humans and we can’t be too perfect or even if we look really good, people will always look for flaws,” she carried on.

The 33-year-old actress began to embrace her skin color when she started traveling overseas. Whenever she visits a foreign city, she’s fascinated by the way people compliment her skin color.

The actress with Endless Beauty by HBS owner Jaime Prado.

“I feel like I’m still a celebrity whenever I go abroad, people approach me because they really like the color of my skin. They say, they would have to spend a lot of time in tanning salons for their skin to look at least close to my skin tone. When I went to London, I saw how people stayed under the sun just to get some color,” she said.

Though Glaiza has already learned to embrace her skin imperfections, it didn’t mean she no longer makes any effort to take care of it. She admitted that she was too lazy cleansing her skin and even sleeping with makeup on, then she realized that she needed to break the bad habit.

“You don’t have to cover your imperfections all the time. Just have a sustainable skincare routine and use products that really work for you. Expensive and well-marketed products may work for others but it doesn’t mean they will work for you, too. So don’t be afraid to find the right products for you,” she said.

“I used to sleep with makeup on but I realized I’m not getting any younger and I really have to focus on taking care of my skin. But I do it because I want to be kind to myself. And that’s what I really wanted to share with people – to do it for themselves and not for others. Please yourself and not the people who will always have a say no matter how you look,” she added.
