The Pasay City Council has approved an ordinance giving tax amnesty to all business enterprise and real property owners in the city.
Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano said the new ordinance aimed address the socio-economic effect amid the health crisis brought by the coronavirus disease pandemic, resulting in the losses, closure and non-payment of taxes which in turn incurring surcharges, penalties and interests.
“Now that the country is slowly opening up its economic activities in a calibrated manner, this is the city’s response to the effects of the pandemic,” said the city chief executive, who thanked members of the council for coming up with the measure.
The Ordinance 6176—Granting Amnesty on Surcharges, Penalties and Interests Incurred due to delinquencies for Non-Payment of Business Taxes, Real Property Taxes, Regulatory Fees, and other Fees and Charges due to the City Government, Subject to Compliance with All Applicable Laws, Rules and Regulations on the Matter—took effect on Nov. 3, 2021.
The ordinance covers business owners with unpaid or delinquent business tax, regulatory fees or other fees and or charges with the local government.
It also covers owners of real properties declared for the first time subject to back taxes. Owners of any delinquent real property (land, building or machinery) with or without Notice of Delinquency are also covered by the Ordinance.
Likewise, violated traffic, parking and other ordinances who have not settled their corresponding fines shall only need to apply their first violation penalty and the succeeding violation fines shall be deemed waived.
The ordinance also covers those who have any transaction with the city to secure license, permit and all other services including monthly amortizations of Urban Development and Housing Office recipient awardees.
