Rocco Nacino made it a point to attend the premiere of 'Write About Love' at SM Megamall Cinema by riding a scooter from Tanay, Rizal braving horrendous traffic jam and heavy rains.

The 32-year-old actor was on the set of GMA’s latest action drama, Descendants of the Sun, but he didn’t want to miss the premiere of the film, which also stars Miles Ocampo.

“When I arrived at the venue in SM Megamall, someone took my helmet from me, my stylist was there, I was literally dressing up while walking. I had to be ready for media interviews in a few minutes. Thank God I was right on time,” he told Manila Standard in an interview.

“You were witness, it didn’t show what I had gone through just to be at the premiere. The film is very close to my heart so I had to be there, I wanted to support the director and my co-star,” he added.

Rocco continued that the total mileage he had traveled on a scooter was more than 200 kilometers, adding the road he had to traverse “on a Vespa” returning to Tanay while there was a storm.

“I know it was dangerous, but I didn’t have a choice. If I drove using a car, I would be late for the premiere. And going back to Tanay, I would be late as well for the taping,” Rocco shared.

His co-stars in Descendants of the Sun were supportive of him but warned the actor not to do it again.

“They’re proud because I’m the one who represents the film, but at the same time they were really worried.”

“I was soaking wet when I came back from the premiere, so Dong (Dantes) told me, ‘wag mo na uulitan yan ah.’ He also rides the motorbike but he was really worried because of the weather and the road condition. But for me, it’s all worth it. You know, I can’t not be there,” the actor explained.

Talking about the film, Rocco hopes that more people will appreciate how the story is presented. He said that it’s a refreshing romantic comedy that allows the audience to have their own version of its ending.

The actor in a scene from the only romcom movie in this year's MMFF.

“People like open-ended stories. I like how our director ended it so people would have their own version of the film’s ending or what would happen between the two characters. It triggered discussions on how the film should end, so Direk Crisanto somehow brought the scriptwriter in every one of us,” he told the author.

In the only romcom selected in this year’s MMFF, a young writing protégé (played by Miles Ocampo), must work and learn from an older, more experienced and edgy screenwriter (played by Rocco Nacino). Despite their clashing personalities, sparks fly between the two and if the trailer is any indication, viewers will most likely hope that the two end up together.

Write About Love  tackles all sorts of love. There is love between family. Love of work (writing). Love of friends. Love of a special someone. Love of self,” explained Rocco.

“It involved a lot of internalizing and talking to Miles so that I can piece together her actual (or lack of) experience when it comes to love,” he said. “The role is simply made for her.”

Directed by Crisanto B. AquinoWrite About Love also stars Joem Bascon and music superstar Yeng Constantino playing the “reel” roles.
