Sleep is one of our common denominators. As in, we all need it to survive, regardless of the person’s lifestyle, routine, responsibilities.

These four people made the decision to invest in the essentials necessary to achieve quality sleep.

Alice Dixson

Fabulous but frenzied best describes the life of Alice Dixson as an actress, a digital media producer, and a popular endorser with her own charitable advocacies. At the end of a busy day, she sleeps in an instant, which she owes to her Tempur mattress and pillows.

“I had been using a Tempur mattress for over a decade in the States.  And I purchased my first pillow in Canada as recommended by my chiropractor,” she shares.

Dixson relates the brand was recommended by her chiropractor because of a degeneration of her C-4, 5, 6 cervical vertebrae due to wrong posture. She also had a lumbar tear. The pillow helped relieve the pain in her neck, the mattress provided therapeutic reprieve for her back pain. Her Tempur Hug Pillow, meanwhile, aided in correcting her posture while sleeping on her side.

James Deakin

News anchor and road safety advocate James Deakin admits that he used to consider a bed merely a means to an end, until he purchased a Tempur mattress.

“They say the biggest investments that people will make in their lives are one, their home, and second, a car. For me, the third biggest investment is a good mattress,” explains Deakin.

Even his wife is grateful for Tempur because it’s almost like having two single beds. He shares, “Tempur is not your traditional mattress where, when the other side tilts, you end up rolling into each other. That’s fine in a honeymoon but we’re married 25 years, so it’s nice to have a little bit of your own space when you’re sleeping.”

Greg Slaughter

“My health is always a top priority and sleep is a very big factor when it comes to that,” says professional basketball player Greg Slaughter. “It helps me recover, mentally and physically, and gives me the ability to go back to work fresh.”

Growing up in the US, Slaughter is familiar with Tempur. “It started out with one Tempur pillow and then a body pillow,” he shares.

Slaughter is seven-foot-tall and since most beds are usually just six feet, sleeping has always been a struggle. “So I contacted Tempur and they said they could get me one that was customized to suit my size and height.”

His customized Tempur mattress is six feet wide, 10 inches thick, and longer than seven feet.

Desiree Swan

Retired from teaching, Desiree Swan ensures her six to eight hours of sleep is of quality, especially due to her condition.

“I have the Tempur adjustable bed, the original mattress, a symphony pillow, leg spacer, and the eye mask. I got all these because someone with asthma, like me is not advised to lie down flat. I have to be inclined,” she shares.

Swan adds, “And because I have phlebitis, my legs also have to be elevated. So my Tempur bed tilts up my head and raises my legs. Also, I needed a bed that supports my lower back. My bed and pillows really cater to my health needs and lifestyle.”

She used to have wedges to support her legs, back, and head but she found these implements too hot and did nothing but add pressure to her spine.

The brand’s sleep innovations trace their roots to the 1970s when NASA developed a pressure absorbing material to help cushion and support astronauts during lift-off.

Tempur is exclusively distributed in the country by Focus Global, Inc.
