NTC tops collection target by over P2b

The National Telecommunications Commission said Friday it exceeded its collection target for 2019 by P2.16 billion as of November 2019.

The agency’s target collection for 2019 was pegged at P4.786 billion, while actual collection stood at P6.949 billion.

“The agency had hoped to exceed its collection target by P2 billion this year and I am grateful to each and every one in the NTC for making sure we achieved this,” said NTC commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba.

“This achievement demonstrates the NTC and DICT’s full support to the national government and the public service programs used by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte—priorities of which are on infrastructure, agriculture and real development and peace and order,” he added.

NTC’s achievement was a culmination of a concerted effort to strictly enforce stakeholders’ compliance in remitting spectrum users’ fees, supervision and regulatory fees and penalties.

The agency regulates cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies and commercial and portable radio operators.
