Josie Natori has always been about combining two perspectives, two concepts—East meets West, loungewear for outdoors. After all, she said, “I have always believed there are no boundaries.”
The concept of her heritage brand Natori began in 1977 with an embroidered blouse that became a night shirt. Now it has evolved into a label featuring pieces to be worn outside.
“It was obvious to me that it was only a matter of time that the lifestyle concept of Natori would evolve into a full ready-to-wear collection,” said the Philippine-born American designer.
She added, “It’s through our own manufacturing that we have been able to expand Natori into a ready-to-wear collection of its own.”
Natori’s latest RTW collection for the fall/winter 2019 season focuses on effortless separates in elegant hues that evoke East-West sensibility—as in reds and blacks and gold—and with the label’s heritage prints and floral patchwork and eclectic style.
Made for women on the go, the pieces can be mixed and matched for an “innovative dressing experience that can go from day to night, office wear to weekend wear, and everything in between.”
Key pieces include Natori’s signature kimono sleeve toppers, caftan tops, and wedge-shaped dresses. The collection features luxuriously comfortable fabrics such as matte jersey, bi-stretch, and silky soft crepe.
The designer takes pride in the level of thoughtfulness and value that comes along with every piece. The fabrications intend to take the Natori woman from day to night, supporting her in all aspects of her lifestyle.
“Natori is a total concept, a way of life. I just happened to start at the back door with lingerie. Now as the company grows, we grow our sensibility too, taking our concept and making it a whole world,” enthused Natori.
Natori is available at Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-La, and Rustan’s Cebu.
