Navotas hospital receives silver trailblazer award

The Navotas City Hospital bagged the Silver Trailblazer Award from the Institute for Solidarity in Asia for its efforts to promote good governance.

NCH Director Dr. Christia Padolina received the award following the public revalida for the Compliance Stage in ISA’s Performance Governance System.

“This award reflects our continued efforts to improve our services, especially in the health sector. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to give our best as we promote the welfare and wellbeing of every Navoteño,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

The PGS consists of four stages namely, initiation, compliance, proficiency, and institutionalization.

Since its initiation in November 2017, the NCH instituted policy reforms and realignment of resources to realize its strategic position of being “a pioneer in community-linked secondary healthcare in CAMANAVA (Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela).”

Among the changes that NCH implemented was the creation of the Office of Strategic Management and Multi-Sector Governance Council.

The OSM monitors the progress of NCH units in achieving their respective strategic goals. The MSGC, on the other hand, helps formulate new programs such as #NotoSolo, #GamotMoSagotKo, and #JuanCard to further serve the needs of Navoteños.

The hospital is also working with the Department of Health for the installation of iHOMIS and iClinicSys computer systems that will help make the information system and electronic medical records of the NCH interoperable with those of the city health centers.

Furthermore, the NCH is currently expanding to become a secondary-level hospital with 100-bed capacity. To ensure its sustainability, it secured the nod of the Navotas City Government to retain 20 percent of its income as a supplementary budget.

The hospital also pursued advocacy projects, facilitated by specialty physicians, to promote healthy lifestyle and preventive health care.

It also established ties with other government agencies for increased financial assistance to patients.

Among these were the Office of the President through the Malasakit Center, Office of the Vice President,

Department of Health, Navotas City Government, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Just recently, the NCH received recognition as one of PhilHealth’s Strong Partner in Health Service Delivery.
