ONE Championship ends 2019 with A ‘MARK OF GREATNESS’

ONE Championship ends the year with a bang as it pits two of the world’s best strikers against each other in the main event of ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS.

Muay Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Chinese star Wang “Golden Boy” Junguang will duke it out for the inaugural ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title on 6 December at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A man who has done it all in “the art of eight limbs,” Sam-A looks to prove himself in the world of kickboxing – and he will get a chance to do so on the biggest stage in the world.

“This means a lot to me, getting an opportunity like this, especially my first time fighting kickboxing,” Sam-A said.

“It isn’t something easy to change styles and come into a championship fight, but I want to prove myself!”

The star from Evolve expects a fast start from the 24-year-old, though he is confident he can weather the early storm.

“His punches are strong and fast. He’s going to be really aggressive and strong in the first few rounds, and I’ll need to watch for this,” the Thai legend said.

“I don’t think he has the best defense and he leaves openings. I will try to capitalize on this and use my style to circle around. I don’t want to get in close and will use my long-range weapons like my kick.”

While Sam-A is coming in confident, Wang has the same type of optimism. Wang acknowledges the experience that the Thai hero will bring, though he remains unfazed at the momentous challenge in front of him.

Being 12 years younger than the 36-year-old Thai will be his main advantage, and that is something he will look to exploit in Kuala Lumpur.

“I belong to the new generation,” Wang said. “Sam-A was a legend of his time, but that’s in the past. I will face him with confidence and without fear.”

“He’s fought over 400 matches. His advantage is he’s very experienced, but I think my stamina is better. I’m younger, and for sure, my willpower is stronger.”

For one last time this year, ONE Championship returns to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS at the Axiata Arena on 6 December.
