Chen Long, also known under the alias Chen Chenglong,  was cornered  in a building in Makati City by operatives of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit.

BI-FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said they received information about Chen’s crime from Chinese authorities, saying  “upon receipt of the information, we immediately conducted a case build up and determined his location to effect his arrest.”

Documents showed that Chen, together with a cohort, set up an unregistered investment company in Shandong province and reportedly duped their victims more than 60 million RMB, or more than P400 million.

It was also found out that Chen’s passport has been canceled by the Chinese government, making him an undocumented alien.

Meanwhile, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente commended the efforts of the FSU in apprehending foreign fugitives in the country.

“The FSU has been doing a good job in ensuring that we rid of fugitives hiding in the Philippines,”  Morente said., adding  “this is not possible without the cooperation of our foreign counterparts who send us information about wanted criminals in their countries that may be hiding in ours.”

Chen has been transferred to the BI Detention Center in Bicutan, Taguig pending the implementation of his deportation.
