The Navotas City Hospital (NCH) received a citation from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for being a “Strong Partner in Health Service Delivery.”

NCH director Dr. Christia Padolina, Dr. Spica Mendoza-Acoba, and Dr. Liberty Domingo received the award during the PhilHealth Regional Office’s LGU Executive Forum and Recognition.

“The award we received not only brought honor to our city. It also validated our efforts to provide premium public services to our fellow Navoteños,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“May this inspire us more to continuously improve our services and think of ways to help our constituents, especially those who have less in life,” he added.

Navotas was selected based on its sustainable and progressive health initiatives.

PhilHealth noted that in 2005, under Tiangco’s leadership, Navotas enrolled 2,000 Navoteño families in the National Health Insurance Program.

In the same year, families received Navotas Hospitalization Program cards with a supplementary amount of P5,000 which they were able to use at Tondo General Hospital.

In 2011, Navotas raised its hospitalization subsidy to P25,000 and involved more partner hospitals including Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Metropolitan Medical Center, and Valenzuela Medical Center.

In 2015, NCH began operation with a 50-bed capacity and services in internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, ophthalmology and others.

It also started using an electronic medical records (EMR) and No Balance Billing scheme in 2018. In the same year, the city started the construction of the NCH extension which will increase the hospital’s bed capacity from 50 to 100.

Also in 2018, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III visited NCH and lauded its quality facilities.

Moreover, PhilHealth recognized Navotas’ continued efforts to build more health centers that cater to the daily health and medical needs of constituents.

It also noted that this year, the city opened the 25th Malasakit Center at NCH and the Navotas Wellness and Medical Center.

“This is part of our steadfast commitment to provide Navoteños with the best service they deserve. We hope this will empower them and help them improve their quality of life,” Tiangco said.
