The San Juan Knights shoot for the best record in the Maharlika PIlipinas Basketball League Lakan Season when they tangle with the Muntinlupa Cagers on Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Other games pit the rising Bataan Risers against the Paranaque Patriots at 6:30 p.m. and the Rizal Xentro Mall Golden Coolers against the Imus-Khaleb Shawarma Bandera at 4 p.m.
On top of the 16-team North division with a 16-2 record, the Knights will move ahead of the Davao Occidental Tigers, also at 16-2 and the 15-team South division pacesetters, if they beat the Cagers in the 9 p.m. tussle.
Powered by star gunner John Wilson and high-leapers Mike Ayonayon and Jhonard Clarito, the Knights downed the Valenzuela SVP Top Marketplace, 78-68, on Oct. 15.
They will again be the solid picks over the once-formidable Cagers, who are now at the bottom rung at 4-14.
The new-look Risers have won three in a row, the last a 102-71 dumping of the cellar-dwelling Soccsksargen Marlins on Oct. 15, to boost their card to 10-8 and enjoy the favorites’ role over the Patriots (7-12).
Toting a 4-13 slate, Imus, with former PBA MVP Jayjay Helterbrand and actor Geraldd Anderson in tow, is slightly favored over Rizal (3-12), which is reeling from four straight defeats.
