Alicia’s Alejandro sees more trade, commerce, development

Alicia, Isabela—Mayor Joel Amos Alejandro here said he will continue to establish this town as center for trade commerce and agriculture.

He said he will pursue more road development projects such as by-pass roads, road widening, farm-to-market roads, and opening other access roads for traffic rerouting.

“This will help in easing traffic in our municipality and provide more road access to our farmers in bringing their produce to the market,” he said during his recent 100 Days message.

Alejandro also urged barangay officials to help in scouting proposed areas for road development projects.

“We will do this by exploring possible negotiations and expropriation procedures so that we can maximize them for our constituents,” he added.

Two multi-purpose buildings for barangays were already completed, Alejandro said.

The improvement of the public market will be one of his priorities to help the business sector and further spur economic development, the local chief executive said.

The improvement of the meat section of the town’s public market was one of the completed projects, he said.

Alejandro said the issues and concerns of stall owners will be addressed through their cooperation and support.

He also revealed that the local government unit is looking for areas for housing projects for the poor in partnership with Gawad Kalinga and other agencies.

According to Alejandro, the LGU continues to provide financial and medical assistance to the poor, sick, and elderly in the municipality.

The LGU has set aside P5,000 each as incentive for centenarians, including the provision of free assistance to poor schoolchildren.

Continuing free medical, optical, dental and bloodletting activities will also be done for the health benefit of the villagers.

On agriculture, Alejandro said the LGU has provided P2 million for a farmers’ cooperative in town as capital for buying rice from farmers.

“These are just initial projects and actions that we had made and with the support of other sectors, we can do more in the coming months,” Alejandro said.
