Fresh from the recent success of Vivacon, the first Filipino fan convention in local entertainment history, the showbiz outfit Viva Entertainment is at the moment celebrating more important milestones.
First is the success of the erotic drama from Viva Films, Just A Stranger, which topped the box-office till last August. At the same time, the Viva distributed Angel Has Fallen became the number one grossing foreign film. And lastly, This 15 Me, starring Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo became the first Filipino concert film to stream on Netflix.
Now acclaimed for its box-office performance and critical success, Just A Stranger continues to thrill audiences all over the country. The film stars Anne Curtis and Marco Gumabao and is written and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana.
Partly shot in Portugal, the movie tells the story of how a married woman gets into a passionate affair with a younger man and how she suffers the consequences.
Angel Has Fallen is the third of the famous Fallen franchise. Previously shown were Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen. The three-time more exciting Angel Has Fallen continues the adventures of agent Mike Banning played by Gerard Butler. He is now on the run, a suspect in the attempt to kill the President of the United States. He must prove his innocence and find the real killer at the same time.
Angel Has Fallen also stars Morgan Freeman, Piper Perabo, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Nick Nolte.
Meanwhile, all those who missed Sarah Geronimo’s This 15 Me concert which was held at the Araneta Coliseum last April 2018 and those who want to relive the experience can simply log in to Netflix and watch the show at any time and all the times they want.
This is a major event for Filipino talents as it opens the doors of the streaming platform to other Filipino concert films.
This 15 Me marked Sarah’s 15th anniversary in show business, it features a repertoire of Filipino and foreign songs and was directed by Paul Basinillo with Louie Ocampo as musical director. Featured guests are Billy Crawford, Mark Bautista, Xian Lim, James Reid, and Daniel Padilla.
Without missing a beat, Viva Films segued with Sanggano, Sanggago’t Sanggwapo and brought back the Gamol triumvirate of Andrew E, Janno Gibbs, and Dennis Padilla to the big screen. Directed …by Al Tantay, the picture was one of the funniest, naughtiest romps ever seen in movies in a long time.
There are more hilarious naughties in store for moviegoer with the coming arrival of Jowable. Based on the much-talked-about short film by Darryl Yap on Facebook, the movie features the love team Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles.
Next on tap, come October, will be Sarah G in the very special film directed by Jun Lana, Unforgettable.
