Fundraising dinner serves dishes from the farm

For the second installment of Mulberry Door by nawwTy’s kitchen’s three-part collaborative dinner in celebration of its second anniversary, the restaurant teamed up with Backyard Farms and MothersWhoBrunch to host the FREE fundraising dinner.

This time around, the beneficiary was Best Buddies Philippines, an organization dedicated to create opportunities for and forge friendships with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“Trish [Panlilio] was one of the first collaborators we had for Backyard Farms when we first started,” shared Jenny Yrasuegui of Backyard Farms, a distributor of all-natural products.

Yrasuegui continued, “So when she approached us to ask if we would be interested to collaborate again this year, we said ‘yes’,” further noting that she was motivated not only by celebrating food but also by giving back to the local food industry.

Meanwhile, for Michelle Aventajado and Sabrina Go of MothersWhoBrunch, taking part in this dinner series meant collaborating with like-minded women––all for a greater cause.

“This company is mindful in all they do, and what they bring to the table,” said Aventajado. “It’s wonderful to be able to collaborate for this cause that is near and dear to my heart.”

The dinner highlighted the pasture-raised livestock of Backyard Farms and including some of Holy Carabao’s produce in the mix.

The menu for the FREE fundraising dinner started off with an appetizer of Backyard Farms Chicken Liver Paté on Baked Crostini, followed by a sweet-meets-savory Glazed Peach and Backyard Farms Pork Rillete Vol-Au-Vent.

It then took an oriental turn with delectable Grilled Backyard Farms Chicken Ramen with poached egg, edamame, and crisp nori, followed by Grilled Prawn Salad with spicy peanut Sauce.

The dinner finished strong with Slow-cooked Honey Ginger Backyard Farms Pork Rib Stew with Bacon Paella Blanca––made with pork from Backyard Farms, of course.

No dinner is complete without the much awaited dessert. For this dinner, the sweet course was specially prepared by MothersWhoBrunch—MWB Mango Surprise, a ginger-spiced butter cake and black sesame cookie topped with mango compote and burnt rice cream.

The next and final stop for the nawwTy Gives Back dinner series is in October, with the dinner planned in partnership with Jeannie Javelosa of GREAT Women.

Taking some of the best ingredients from Holy Carabao and Backyard Farms, Panlilio will be preparing a one-of-a-kind menu for the GREAT Women Stock Purchase Fund for Weavers.
