Currently showing in cinemas right now is Jade Castro’s LSS (Last Song Syndrome) with no less than the immensely popular band Ben & Ben not only providing music, they are also included in the cast.
Playing leads are real life couple Gabbi Garcia and Kahli Ramos.
The director sums up the film as a “journey of dreamers, believers of music. It’s about how passionate they are in sharing their aspirations through music. And of course, there is young love which is of course, represented by Gabbi and Khalil.”
Garcia says, “It’s great that we worked together in LSS because we have discovered more of each other. Initially, we didn’t want to work together but after reading the script, we fell in love with it and we decided to do it. I really don’t know about Khalil’s work ethics but, working with him, I found out he’s amazing. He’s very open, not only a good singer but also a good, generous and a serious actor. We both get to sing and act together in LSS.”
For Ramos’ part, he explains, “We have good teamwork as it helps that we’re really already comfortable with each other. We give and take. She asks for my help and I also ask hers. Our characters got connected through the music of Ben & Ben, which is an integral part of the movie.”
In the movie, Gabbi is Sarah, an aspiring musician who is their family’s breadwinner and struggling to find her own place in the sun, and Khalili plays Zack, a “torpe” guy who has an unrequited love for another girl who happens to be in love with someone else.
Castro promises, “Of course may kilig scenes sina Gabbi and Khalil. But more than that, the film shows the relatable story of how the pursuit of love and your dreams can come with good music.
How did Ben & Ben become part of the movie? “Well, the characters of Gabbi and Khalil. Sarah and Zack meet while following their favorite band, which happens to be Ben&Ben. The songs of Ben & Ben are intertwined with the story which shows how a single unforgettable song can change their lives forever.”
