1st Asian Soft Tennis tournament opens today

San Jose Del Monte—Host Philippine Soft Tennis Association holds two international tournaments here before the 30th Southeast Asian Games this year.

Some 300 athletes from 12 nations will pit skills against each other at the spacious Colegio San Agustin Tennis Court to compete in the 1st Asian Junior Soft Tennis Championship from Aug. 26 to 30 and the 1st Asian University Soft Tennis Championship on Sept. 1 to 3.

The best soft netters players from China, Japan, South Korea, Democratic People’s of Korea, Mongolia, Nepal, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Laos are set to compete here to test their strengths in the nine-day events. 

PSTA President Jeff Tamayo thanked the Asian Soft Tennis Federation for awarding to the Philippines the hosting these two major international tournaments.

Tamayo also thanked the Department of Education, Philippine Olympic Committee, NCAA, PSTA officers and the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.

Perpetual Help’s Performing Arts Group and Singing Ensembles will perform to entertain the guest athletes and sports officials of other countries.
