Venues given Sept. 15 deadline; Apl.de.Ap to perform at SEAG opener

All venues that are being readied for the 30th Southeast Asian Games must be turned over to the organizers by September.

The contractors who are doing work on the many venues of the Games have until Sept. 15 to complete whatever renovation, repairs and makeovers that are being done.

“By Sept. 15, dapat awarded na lahat,” said Suzara.

There are 25 projects that are being undertaken for the Games by the government and 12 of these involve procurement of materials, while 13 others are connected to sports equipment that are being acquired by the Philippine Sports Commission.

So far, Suzara bared that the Phisgoc will be spending around P3.5 to P4 billion in its preparations, with P1 billion going to operations and another billion going to repair work being done mostly by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Earlier, Philippine music icon apl.de.ap formalized his commitment to perform at the opening ceremonies of the SEA Games on Nov. 30 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Apl.de.ap, who is Allan Pineda Lindo in real life, confirmed his involvement following a signing ceremony yesterday at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

The famed rapper met with House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano, Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino and Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez.

The 44-year-old musician and producer’s performance will highlight the opening rites, which will be held on Bonifacio Day.

Maestro Ryan Cayabyab will collaborate with apl.de.ap during a 12-minute long performance.

The opening ceremonies show will be a mix of beats from the Black Eyed Peas and will have sounds of traditional Filipino instruments and orchestral accompaniments.

Black Eyed Peas groupmates will.i.am, Taboo, and singer Jessica Reynoso will be around for the closing ceremonies on Dec. 11 at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
