Filipino BMX rider Daniel Caluag is seeking points that will boost his world rankings.
Currently ranked 122nd in the world, Caluag will join more Olympic qualifying competitions in the coming months.
Caluag is set to join a UCI test event in Ariake Urban Sports Park from October 1 to 5.
The test event will serve as a prelude to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics BMX event.
Caluag’s world ranking went up last April following a silver-medal finish in the Malaysian BMX competitions last April.
It will be recalled that Caluag was the Philippines’ lone gold medalist in the 2014 Asian Games.
In the qualifiers, Caluag is one of 64 riders from the top 28 countries invited by the UCI.
“The allocation is for Team Philippines to send one male elite BMX rider. The final slot for the Olympics will be announced after the October event in Japan,” PhilCycling secretary general Billy Sumagui.
