The Swinging Sixties revival

Today’s fashion has already covered the hippie ‘70s and the bold ‘80s, now it’s the swinging ‘60s turn with the return of classic bell-bottoms with exaggerated flares, bohemian fringes, and floral prints on denim.

American fashion label Guess takes on a brave feat reviving the glory days of ‘60s with its summer 2019 denim collection highlighted by an iconic array of washes, cuts, and silhouettes that shake up how pants are worn today.

A pair of severely distressed denim reveals a ‘60s twist, with a floral printed underlay peeking behind the length of the ripped jean. Bohemian fringes also make an appearance at the ends of a frayed pair of high-waist jeans and shorts.

Graphic stripes prevalent in ‘60s athleisure also make their way into the collection, with a classic blue jean paying tribute to retro sportif with colorblock stripes (in jeans and in jacket form) bearing the Roman equivalent to Guess’ iconic 1981.

In addition to denim, Guess also launches a collection of tops inspired by this decade.

The Brigitte Bardot brand of sixties sultriness lends its way to chosen tops, featuring semi-square neck blouses with trendy puff sleeves that are in demand this season. Off-the-shoulder and cropped peasant tops reference the same bombshell babe, an icon of the undeniably fab era.

Rounding up the collection are decade-transcending graphic tees and tops bearing the Guess typeface in gradient pops of color.
