Gerard Butler is back and fallen in his new film

On the recently released trailer for Angel Has Fallen, Butler's character, Mike Banning, will become the fugitive one.

He will come back with Morgan Freeman himself as Allan Trumbull, the president of the United States. Butler will serve as a Secret Service agent and a personal bodyguard of President Trumbull.

But in an unfortunate event, when the president was having his fishing, a threat has attacked his life. As Butler escaped, together with Freeman, for their lives, he woke up being framed up for an assassination attempt on the president.

This led Butler's character, Mike Banning, to go against the law and take his most dangerous mission yet. He escaped the custody and went to his estranged father, Nick Noite, to ask for the latter's help in clearing his name. He was forced to "evade his own agency and outsmart the FBI" so he could find the real person behind the assassination attempt to the life of the president.

In a part of the trailer, Butler can be heard saying, "There's someone else behind this, it wasn't me," and telling the viewers to a plot of the real threat. He could also be heard saying, "Don't worry about finding me. I'll find you," threatening the person behind all the frame ups and attempts.

If the first two installments have shown us Mike Banning saving the lives of the President (Olympus Has Fallen) and the British Prime Minister (London Has Fallen), this time in Angel Has Fallen, the guardian angel has fallen and has to save his own life and of course, the life US President Allan Trumbull.

"It's the same man in the same position, but it's a much deeper, darker journey. There's still huge set pieces and we made sure not to disappoint the fans of the first two, but you're really inside this character, watching him try to get his sh*t together," said Butler.

The Angel Has Fallen  will be directed Ric Roman Wough and will also star Jada Pinkett Smith, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, with Nick Nolte, and Danny Huston.

The upcoming American film Angel Has Fallen is set to hit the cinemas on August 23, 2019.
