Contributions from Amsali’s teammates Wilmer Oftana and Kent Pelipel in the second quarter allowed the Red Cubs to move away and post their third straight win for their best start in three years in the junior division of the 95th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament.

Oftana and Pelipel combined for 14 points as the Red Cubs took a 13-point spread, 45-32, at halftime.

Amsali took over in the third period as the Manu Inigo-coached Red Cubs widened their lead, 73-50.

Joshua Dandoy and Adrian Balowa shot 14 points for the Brigadiers, who remained winless after three matches.

Meanwhile, the Letran Knights will seek their third win in four games when they play the University of Perpetual Help Altas at 12 noon today at the Arena in San Juan.

The Knights are coming off a 55-43 triumph over the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers last Tuesday.

On the other hand, the Altas are reeling from a 63-75 setback at the hands of the College of St. Benilde Blazers.
