It also aims to inculcate pride in excellent and outstanding works of Filipino workers and help develop the value of hard work, critical and innovative and creative thinking at the workplace.

Acacio was recognized for the crucial role he played in the detailed and timely execution of the 44-piece 300-millimeter diameter pipe installation project to connect the floating pumps to the East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant during the low-level incident at La Mesa Dam in 2018.

His innovative methodology using his skills and experience in operating heavy equipment enabled Manila Water to complete the project within schedule and helped prevent a massive water service interruption in Rizal province and Marikina City, which are served by the water treatment plant.

The 264-meter pipe laid by Acacio and his team to connect the floating pumps to the treatment plant prevented the forced shutdown of the treatment plant which could have affected thousands of customers. About 195,000 people were able to receive continuous supply of water.

He is regarded as a “One-Stop Man”, an expert in the operation, maintenance and repair of all light to heavy specialized fleet equipment. He also led other efficiency initiatives such as tire recapping and battery trade-in.

The Tower Awards are spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Manila in partnership with the People Management Association of the Philippines, Petron Foundation Inc. and the Department of Labor and Employment.
