For Jun Manzo, it’s now up to senior members of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons to step up and provide directions to the new members of the team.
“Gagabayan namin ang mga bago. Dahil aim namin ang pumasok ulit sa finals,” said the former University of Visayas standout, who was among those who transferred to UP three years ago from Cebu.
The Maroons’ top guard discussed the team’s ongoing preparations for the 82nd University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament before their trip to the United States.
The preparations will include training camps in Las Vegas and Serbia, and a tournament in Taiwan.
The Fighting Maroons will leave for Las Vegas this Friday.
They will then join a tournament in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in July.
Afterwards, they will head to Serbia for the second year in a row.
Assistant coach Ricky Dandan said the Fighting Maroons are on track with their preparations.
The tournament in Taiwan will be help in terms of integrating newbies Kobe Paras and Ricci Rivero into their system.
“We’re right on track. Our primary goal here is to get some chemistry and cohesion, that’s what we’re trying to address,” said Dandan.
