PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. is ramping up the roll-out of carrier-grade Smart Wi-Fi across the country and is making high-quality connectivity available to residents and tourists visiting Baler in Aurora.

Smart Wi-Fi is now available at the Baler Municipal Plaza, Baler Central Terminal and Museo Baler, the latest additions to Smart Wi-Fi-powered establishments across the country. Smart has also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Mount Carmel College of Baler and launched Smart Wi-Fi in their campus.

“With Smart Wi-Fi now available in Baler, we are putting world-class connectivity within the reach of residents, tourists and students alike, uplifting their everyday lives and helping them be more productive while on-the-go,” said Juan Victor Hernandez, senior vice president and head of Enterprise for PLDT.

“By working with our government and school partners, we are able to better empower our customers in Baler with consistent and reliable high-speed connectivity,” said Alex O. Caeg, PLDT-Smart senior vice president and head for Consumer Business-Customer Development.

“With Smart Wi-Fi in place, tourists traveling through the Baler Central Terminal and Museo Baler can stay connected, residents dropping by the Baler Municipal Hall can also access online services, and students at Mount Carmel can use the internet for their data-intensive academic work,” Caeg added.

Present during the Smart Wi-Fi launch at the Baler Municipal Plaza were Baler OIC Mayor Reynaldo Mapindan, PLDT-Smart vice president and Head for Luzon Customer Consumer Development John Palanca, Luzon Regional Marketing head Richard Dimagiba, AVP and Head for NCL Customer Consumer Development Leonides Nivado, VP and head for Access Patrick Belicena, Nueva Ecija Aurora Tarlac Zone head Gerry Marquez, PLDT Enterprise Relationship manager Sheryl Soriano, and Aurora Provincial distributor Arnel Quirijero.

Meanwhile, Mount Carmel College EVP Rev. Fr. Andres Lumasac attended the MOA signing with Palanca, Nivado, Quirijero and Community Development Supervisor Japs Samson.

To date, Smart WiFi is up in over 400 spots across the country, including in government offices across Luzon, such as the provincial capitols of Batangas and Benguet, the city halls of Bacoor, Baguio, Binan, Laoag, Malolos, Meycauayan, Puerto Princesa, Santa Rosa, Tanauan and Trece Martires, and municipal halls of Bocaue, Marilao and Tanza.

Mount Carmel also joins the growing list of Luzon schools and universities with Smart WiFi, which includes Ateneo de Naga, Benguet State University, Pangasinan State University, Laguna State Polytechnic University, Southern Luzon State University, and Tarlac State University, among others.

The nationwide rollout of Smart WiFi complements Smart’s ongoing network expansion and modernization program across the country.
