How mother Iya and son Primo bond

There’s no doubt moms and sons have a special bond and it’s interesting to know that the kind of relationship Iya Villania and son Primo have can easily inspire people who say that they don’t have much time with their kids because of their busy schedule.

The 32-year-old mother of two spends her morning with husband Drew Arellano in the gym. After their routine, they would go home to see their kids.

“It’s so easy to bond with Primo because he’s the one who asks me to take him to the kitchen especially if there’s something he wants to eat. Like one time, he wanted us to bake brownies. I told him, ‘ubusin mo muna yung brownies that we baked yesterday,’” Iya shared during the press conference for Home Foodie’s 5th season.

Drew immediately butted in and said that it’s the process of making or cooking food that intrigues the tyke who’s turning three in August.

“We come home at around 9 o’clock in the morning. And it’s automatic that Primo wants to help the Mama make her protein shake. It’s the process of doing activities with the Mama and the Papa that he really enjoys,” Drew enthusiastically shared.

Iya and Drew, like most millennial couples, are part of a dual-income household which is why they don’t deny their schedule wouldn’t allow them to bond with their kids as much as they wanted to. In a way, they feel fortunate that their eldest son wants to be around the kitchen where the couple usually bond when they’re at home.

“If that’s what Primo would love to do, then it’s easy for us to move around the kitchen but then again as much as we’d like to put that time and effort to cook on a regular basis, our schedule wouldn’t allow us to do so. So, it’s really a bonus that Primo wants to be around the kitchen,” he said.

Iya Villania and Drew Arellano
Couple Iya and Drew return as host of the daily show 'Home Foodie,' which new season premieres tomorrow.

“So, we just make most of the time that we have together,” Iya added.

Both Iya and Drew work as hosts of Home Foodie, which 5th season starts airing today.

Apart from turning ordinary dishes into resto-inspired viands and adding twists to classic dishes, the couple said that they also prepare “Primo-approved food” like the burger patty, which has boiled and grated banana in it, served during the press event.

According to the couple, on the latest season, the San Miguel Pure Foods Home Foodie Chefs — Llena Tan-Arcenas, Martin Narisma, and John Valley — will help them continue to teach and entertain Home Foodies viewers with various ”Madalicious” and ”Affordalicious” meals.

“But with new and level up ideas, easy-to-prepare as well as budget-friendly recipes,” Iya stated.

Among the new elements for this season is that Home Foodie went out of the kitchen for fresh ambiance. Some of the cooking demos are done on location with a refreshing view of the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges as the kitchen backdrop.

Home Foodie

Home Foodie also engages more with its Ka-Home Foodie community on recipe ideas, questions and needs that can be addressed by the show. Drew will roam around the city to personally talk to the viewers and netizens.

And so, the recipes are ka-Home Foodie approved, can be easily replicated by more households and are suited for every member of the family. Lucky Home Foodies are also invited to the remote kitchen to watch the cooking demos and try the featured dishes.

Home Foodie season 5 airs Monday to Friday, after Unang Hirit. Episodes can also be enjoyed online through www.homefoodie.com, YouTube (Home Foodie), Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts (Home Foodie ph).
