The search is on for the next generation of inspiring young men and women as the Junior Chamber International Philippines formally opened the nomination for the 2019 honorees of The Outstanding Young Men and Women of the Philippines (TOYM).
Gracing the event were JCI Philippines national president Paul Jess Estrellao and TOYM national chairman Raymond Salazar, together with notable awardees: Maria Anthonette Allones, Therese Gang Capati, Arch. Gerard Rey Lico, Samira Gutoc, Emerson Atanacio, Raymond Abrea, Rogelio Vonz Santos, and Rodne Galicha.
Following this year’s theme, “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring Filipinos,” the award aims to recognize selfless countrymen aged 18-40 who had contributed to the development of their community or industry.
“We believe that youth is very important as they serve as the catalyst of change in our country,” Salazar said during the media launch. He added, “We intend to look for more Filipinos who have been giving their best in whatever fields that they are in.”
The honorees, as distinguished members of society, would inspire the youth to be the catalyst of change by spreading positivity and initiating goodwill as they play a vital role in nation-building and role models to the next generations.
“As a past honoree, I also believe that the youth has the potential to be game-changer of our country,” shared Gutoc, a recipient of the recognition back in 2001 for her contributions in youth development programs.
The organization and its partners are geared to make the nomination process more accessible to underrepresented sectors and demographics. For the weeks to come, a series of stakeholders’ fora will be conducted in various locations around the country to strengthen the search for the most deserving individuals.
