Navoteños aged seven to 18 have enjoyed developing their talents for free courtesy of the annual Summer Youth Program of the City Government of Navotas.
A total of 335 young Navoteños graduated from the city government’s talent workshops which included theater acting (45 students); guitar playing, 58; dancing, 106; drawing, 99; and arnis, 27.
“The Navoteño youth are our city’s treasures. We believe that given the opportunities to excel, they will succeed in their chosen fields,” said Mayor John Rey Tiangco.
“The summer programs and other workshops and trainings we conduct for them are intended not just to harness their talents and skills, but also to prepare them to succeed in life,” he added.
The city’s SYP started in 2000 during the term of then-mayor and now Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco.
The city government currently has 19 art scholars in five artistic disciplines namely music, dance, visual arts, theater arts, and creative writing or journalism.
