Catalan’s constant reminder to brother Robin keeps him going

Lately, Catalan Fighting System has been on a roll, and Robin “The Ilonggo” Catalan shared the team’s winning mantra over the past few months.

Catalan said it has actually been his older brother,  Rene “The Challenger” Catalan, who has kept the gym’s athletes on their toes.

His reminder isn’t actually complicated, but it has certainly resulted in good performances and a proper mindset.

“Be humble, wise, and strong — that’s the everyday reminder of my older brother, and that’s exactly what I hope to showcase this Friday,” the 28-year-old stated.

The younger Catalan will certainly need all the reminders he can get as he takes on Thailand’s Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit at ONE: WARRIORS OF LIGHT in Bangkok on Friday, 10 May.

As he puts the finishing touches on his training camp, the Iloilo City native is confident he will produce one of his most impressive performances yet inside the ONE Championship Circle.

This past January at ONE: ETERNAL GLORY, Catalan shocked the Indonesian crowd as he scored a unanimous decision victory over their hero, Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian.

Now, just days away from competing inside the Impact Arena, he promises to deliver an even more remarkable performance.

“I am still in the final stages of my training, but I am ready now. It’s all about putting the instructions of my coaches to heart,” he shared.

“I have studied Mitsatit quite well. I know he’s young and he’s good, but I am ready to claim my second win of the year.”

He knows it won’t be easy, as the local crowd will expectedly give Mitsatit a boost.

Despite that, Catalan believes — just like his older brother — it is his time to shine.

“I know the crowd’s gonna be a huge factor, but I have competed against a hometown hero before,” he said.

“Just like in my last fight, it’s all about my determination and willingness to win.”
