From moderate last December, Vice President Leni Robredo’s satisfaction rating climbed back to good, even as Senate President Vicente Sotto’s rating stayed at very good, according to the latest Social Weather Stations survey released on Wednesday.
The March survey had Robredo’s rating climbing back to a “good” +42, or 15 points up from December’s “moderate” +27 rating.
This means that around 63 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied with Robredo’s performance while 21 percent were dissatisfied, SWS said.
The polling agency said the increase in the vice president’s rating were the result of the increases on her satisfaction rating in Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Robredo’s rating in Metro Manila, however, declined by two percent.
Last year, it stayed at “moderate” but went down to +14 in March from +16 in December 2018.
Sotto, meanwhile, got a satisfaction rating of “very good” +61 between December 2018 and March 2019, roughly the same rating last year.
The SWS said Sotto’s satisfaction rating up in Mindanao and Balance Luzon, a 10-point drop in Metro Manila, and a steady score in the Visayas.
This means that 71 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied with Sotto’s performance while 10 percent was dissatisfied.
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s, meanwhile, got another “poor,” rating, despite getting a 4-point increase from December (-27) and (-17) in March.
This means that 29 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied with her performance as while 46 percent were dissatisfied.
The polling agency said the increase in Arroyo’s rating was the result of the increases in her ratings in Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, with a 3-point decline in Metro Manila.
Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, on the other hand, had a “moderate” +14, up by 3 points from December’s +11 satisfaction rating.
The survey said that 36 percent were satisfied with Bersamin’s performance as head of the Supreme Court, while 20 percent were dissatisfied.
SWS said Bersamin’s overall rating could be traced to increases in his ratings in Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with a 20-point decline in Metro Manila.
The 69-year-old Bersamin assumed the top judiciary post in November 2018 following the retirement of Teresita Leonardo-De Castro.
The March 2019 SWS survey was conducted from Mar. 28 to 31, 2019 using face-to-face interviews with 1,440 adults.
Meanwhile, Sotto III has assured the public that he would continue to work hard and make sure that the Senate will be productive under his leadership.
“I also acknowledge the cooperation of my peers that gave the Senate a very good satisfaction rating,” he said.
“Our people deserve nothing less but higher level of true public service,” he added.
Sotto added that his high rating is due to the diligent work of the Senate as a whole. “It’s been that way even before the poor issue with the House of Representatives.”
