Junior Chamber Olongapo holds 58th induction

Olongapo City”•The Junior Chamber International-Olongapo held its 58th induction and turnover ceremonies on Saturday, attended by members and guests.

The 2019 officers are president Jason Gavina, immediate past president Almira Zapanta, executive vice president Steve Paulo Mayo, VP Maycee Munar, VP Oscar Abrajano, Jr., VP Jik Austria, Commissioners Raymond Villanueva, Rannil Carido, Nicole Sol, Neric Bada, Jr., treasurer Cerize Candy Lee, auditor Erica Chu, secretary Judy Ann Espiritu, and assistant secretary Michael Gatmin.

“JCI is JCI is because we chose to tell ourselves a different story. That the world is not only the one we inherit but the one we create. We are not just the future hope, but the present solution,” said Gavina in his inaugural speech.

One of the highlights of the event was the awarding of the inaugural Ulo ng Apo Leadership Excellence Awards to SBMA Chairperson and Administrator Wilma T. Eisma and Castillejos Mayor Jose Angelo M. Dominguez for their outstanding leadership in public service, and contributions to the community.

The distinction goes with an honorary membership to the chapter.

Eisma challenged the JCI members to continue their good work in helping the community and producing new leaders.

“Do not be afraid to be ordinary. This gives you the opportunity to be extraordinary,” she said.

Founded in 1959, JCI Olongapo is a local affiliate of the global leadership movement of young active citizens.

Its members include past presidents Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino and former Mayor Bong Gordon, as well as prominent businessmen and civic leaders in Olongapo.

JCI Olongapo current programs include the Ten Outstanding Young Men Awards, Bags to School for indigent children, Beyond Prison Walls, Happy Kid Project, Project LEAP for Down Syndrome, and Adopt a Community program in Sitio Mampueng, New Cabalan.

JCI Olongapo’s 58th induction was supported by partners RP Energy, Asian Dragon, Zambales Herald, Moonbay Marina, DWOK 97.5 FM, ThrivePH, North West Petroleum, and El Molina Beach Resort, among others.
