Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay—The Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drugs Council recently have declared the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People’s Army as “persona non grata” in the province.
The resolutions was passed during the joint second quarter meeting of the PPOC and PADAC presided by Gov. Wilter Yap Palma last Monday.
This was attended by Army’s 102nd Infantry Battalion Commander Brigadier General Bagnus Gaerlan, Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Commander Police Col. Jerry V. Protacio, DILG Provincial Director Oliver Ombos and all members of PPOC and Anti-Drug Council and chiefs of Police from the 16 municipalities of the province.
According to Gaerlan, the approach would cut insurgency as its roots with the support of all sectors in the community and government agencies.
Palma said declaring persona non grata against NPA is the first step to institutionalize the whole nation approach to end the communist insurgency and attain inclusive and sustainable peace.
The province’s peace and order, major programs and concern on May 13 midterm elections were also discussed during the joint council meeting.
