NLEx Corp. said Thursday it expects to complete the construction of the P6-billion elevated expressway from Circumferential Road 3 in Caloocan City to Radial Road 10 near Port Area by December this year.
The company said the C3-R10 section of NLEx Harbor Link Segment 10 was under way to connect North Luzon Expressway to Port Area.
The 2.6-kilometer elevated expressway will traverse Caloocan Interchange in C3 to R10 in Navotas City.
The C3-R10 section is seen to boost transport logistics as cargo trucks will have direct access from Port Area to the provinces in the north and vice versa via NLEx.
The elevated expressway will reduce the travel time from NLEx Valenzuela City to R10 from 23 minutes to just 11 minutes via Balintawak-Edsa Monumento and from 26 minutes to just 13 minutes via Balintawak to A. Bonifacio/C3 Road.
It is the extension of the 5.65-kilometer portion of NLEx Harbor Link Segment 10 from Karuhatan, Valenzuela City to C3 Road, Caloocan City which was opened on Feb. 28 and has since served more than 100,000 vehicles.
The Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. said that in anticipation of the surge of travelers in the Lenten season, it would again implement the expanded “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” along NLEX, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway and Manila-Cavite Expressway.
The company expects a 10-percent surge in vehicle traffic at the three toll roads during the Holy Week.
Around 700 tellers and patrol officers will be deployed at the NLEx-SCTEx network to enhance traffic management and toll collection services.
The NLEx-SCTEx traffic management teams will adopt extended working hours on April 15 to 22 to closely monitor and manage the expected high volume of vehicles in Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue, Bocaue, Tarlac, San Miguel and Tipo toll plazas.
Cavitex will also deploy more traffic patrol officers and security personnel to manage the traffic and assist motorists. Additional tellers will also be on standby to facilitate faster toll transactions.
Road works at the expressways will be suspended on April 12 to 22 unless safety repairs are required.
Real-time traffic situation at the NLEx-SCTEx network can be viewed on NLEX Corp.’s Facebook page pm April 17 to 22.
