National athletes may now return to the billeting areas of the Philippine Sports Commission at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.
Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy, Jr. made this assurance after three months of repairs.
Some of the quarters have been closed following the death of wushu junior athlete Rastafari Daraliay in the wee hours of the morning last October.
National athletes from weightlifting and women’s wrestling women are currently staying at the RMSC, with fencing, karatedo and muay thai will be located at PhilSports.
The agency advised many national sports associations last December 14 to pull out their athletes from the dormitories for repairs.
PSC Chairman Butch Ramirez said the agency has since covered the expenses of many national athletes for their temporary housing like rentals of condo or apartment units for the team.”
Agency officials said dormitories are only partially available as repairs continue in other areas.
Completion of repairs are expected in late August to early September.
Ramirez said the improvements have been done in order for national athletes to have better places to train and seek shelter.”‹
