Mariveles, Bataan—First-term Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion of this industrial town reported the achievements of his administration during his recent State of Municipality Address (SOMA) here.
“We are known not only in the province but in the entire country for being awardee of Seal of Good Local Governance from DILG [Department of the Interior and Local Government] annually except for a year,” the mayor said in vernacular.
He also said Mariveles has been a consistent recipient of the DILG Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping for efficient fiscal management and financial transparency.
The mayor said his administration had implemented priority projects that were thoroughly studied.
“We had built roads, multi-purpose halls, drainages in barangays,” he said.
With the town’s serious effort in its tobacco control initiative, Mariveles became a recipient of the Red Orchid award from the Department of Health, Concepcion reported.
“I was also chosen as one of the mayors in the region who underwent the municipal leadership and governance program training sponsored by Development Academy of the Philippines, DOH, and Zuellig Family Foundation,” the mayor said.
The knowledge Concepcion learned from the training enabled him to come out with health programs in the municipality “that led to zero maternal deaths, reduced cases of non-communicable diseases, and tackled teenage pregnancies here,” he added.
Mariveles also opened an animal bite clinic “so that we don’t have to go to Balanga when we are bitten by a dog or cat,” the mayor added.
Concepcion also reported the programs he initiated in education, agriculture, and disaster response. He also cited the continued efficient delivery of basic services to the people.
“I would like to sincerely thank all of you for accompanying me to remain strong and broad-minded in the face of harsh criticisms and smear campaign. Amidst incessant attack, I have chosen to continue serving the people,” the mayor told locals.
