PNP stands firm on Panopio relocation

“‹Despite possible displacement of students due to residence relocation, the Philippine National Police has stood firm on moving over 200 enlisted personnel and their families out of Camp Panopio Hospital in Cubao.

In an interview, District 4 Councilor Ivy Xenia Lagman said the PNP has rejected the plea of the 37-member Quezon City council to postpone the relocation of the affected police officers to a resettlement site project of the National Housing Authority in Antipolo City, Rizal province.

“The PNP sent us a letter saying ‘we are very sorry we cannot accommodate your request,’” Lagman told the Manila Standard.

“As far as I know, they [police] are now readying to vacate the place,” she said.

The council had approved City Resolution No. 7686, requesting the PNP to delay the relocation so that affected schoolchildren would be able to finish the current school year. 

Lagman and another District 4 councilor, Raquel Malangen, authored the measure filed nearly a month ago after consulting with residents and their families. “‹
