The Cagayan Valley police said it would investigate the identities of the men seen on a CCTV footage behind the killing of National Democratic Front consultant Randy Malayao.
The CCTV footage were taken from two angles—one inside the bus where Malayao was shot and one outside, according to a GMA 7 report.
In the first footage, which was taken at a bus terminal in Quezon City around 9 p.m. on January 29, Malayao was seen boarding an Isabela-bound bus. Suddenly a man approached the bus, took a picture of the vehicle, and left.
Five hours later, or around 2 a.m. on Jan. 30, the bus stopped over at a bus terminal in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.
In another footage, two men were seen smoking outside the bus during the stopover.
At 2:21 a.m., a man wearing cap and jacket boarded the bus and approached Malayao. Two gunshots were heard after which the suspect was seen fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, the police said it would file complaints against Malayao’s colleagues and a relative for taking evidence related to his killing last week.
The police said Malayao’s sister Perla, Karapatan legal consultant Edu Balgos and his wife, former Nueva Viscayas board member Rina, took Malayao’s laptop and six cellphones, which could help the investigation.
Upano, who still has possession of the gadgets, also allegedly threatened law enforcers.
