Producers and franchise owners of the 47th edition of Miss Intercontinental formally signed up Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila as the official residence of about 90 candidates of the pageant, which will be held on Jan. 8 to 26.
The producers and franchise owners also signed up Landco Pacific Corporation for its Playa Calatagan Village which will host some of the pre-pageant activities.
Signing the Memorandum of Agreement for Miss Intercontinental-Japan were Executive Director Bill Calubaquib, Chief Executive Officer Joanna Miyamae, and Chief Operating Officer Kumi Miyamae.
Signatories for Sofitel Philippine Plaza were Asst. Director of Sales Leslie Soriano, Director of Sales Asia Daourova and Resident Manager Christophe Bataille. Signing for Landco Playa Calatagan Village were Landco Pacific Corp. Vice President Gerald Marcelo.
Witnessing the MOA signing was Philippine representative to the 47th Miss Intercontinental- Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018, Karen Galman.
The MOA signing happened on Nov. 27 at the Davao Function Room of Sofitel, Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex.
Meanwhile, a day after the signing of the MOA, the creme de la creme of Philippine couture featuring 174 participating fashion designers were presented to the media at Okada Hotel.
The same fashion designers will doll up the 87 candidates come pageant proper.
The first set of 87 designers will design the evening gowns while the second set of 87 designers will do the Filipiniana dresses.
Winning design/designer will get $1,000.
With over four decades of celebrated history, Miss Intercontinental has adapted to the changing times and has grown to become an ultimate show and an icon of female beauty and success.
Women who have worn the Miss Intercontinental crown have risen to prominence, establishing careers in government, business, finance film and fashion.
The pageant’s advocacy is diversity of beauty and women empowerment.
Originally, the pageant should be held in Japan but due to unavailability of venue because of the Olympic Games, they shifted to Manila.
