Clark Freeport, Pampanga—A 35-year-old American was arrested by security police authorities after he picked up the baggage of two Korean nationals inside the arrival area of the Clark International Airport Thursday.
The suspect was identified as Julio Diaz Sanches, whose address in the US mainland was not mentioned but is staying at the Royal Apartelle in Angeles City.
In a statement, the Clark International Airport said Sanches was arrested by the security authorities at his temporary address and admitted the crime by reason he disliked the two Korean nationals.
The suspect was identified through CCTV camera installed inside the airport and the plate number of the vehicle who picked him up at the arrival area of the CRK.
Initial investigations showed Sanches arrived in Clark last Dec. 24 on board Asiana flight from Incheon, South Korea while the Koreans also arrived on the same date but on board a different airline identified as Jin Air flight also from Incheon, South Korea.
Sanches picked up two colored baggage at the conveyor area which belong to Jo Seungcheol, 28, and Cha Gunmin, 24, both students as shown in the CCTV in the baggage collection area.
The Korean nationals are both students of SMEAG Global School Inc. with no proper address in the statement.
The two Korean nationals complained to the Passenger Assistant Desk of the CIAC who traced the missing baggage to Sanches at his Apartelle.
Upon questioning, the suspect admitted picking up the baggage because he disliked the two Korean nationals, authorities said.
The suspect is now detained at the Angeles City police undergoing further investigations but promised to pay the two Korean nationals for their missing belongings.
