To stay sharp and active has always been a priority to ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio
The 29-year-old Baguio City native’s self-professed love for mountain biking has kept him in excellent shape in and out of training camp.
“I can say mountain biking is one of my favorite things in the world. When I ride, it gives me an adrenaline rush. I love conquering trails, and at the same time, it gives me access to the most wonderful creations of God,” Eustaquio told ONEFC.com.
Crowned the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion earlier this year, Eustaquio admitted that mountain biking has been an essential part of his training regimen.
Eustaquio goes mountain biking in Baguio City once a week during training camps, and up to three times a week when a bout is not scheduled.
The environment where he normally rides is blessed with incredible natural beauty such as mountains, rivers, and various wildlife that add beauty to the surroundings.
“Riding bikes is a great workout. It makes me strong and fit, and keeps me sharp in fights, and of course, it is also a lot of fun,” he stated.
Moreover, Eustaquio also mentioned that other than the physical benefits he receives from biking, it also sharpens his mind.
“I think our bike rides have made me mentally strong as well,” he shared. “It keeps me focused because if you lose concentration on a bike ride, you could fall into a ravine instantly.”
“You have to dig deep within yourself in order to overcome some obstacles. It sounds scary, but it is a lot of fun.”
But most of all, Eustaquio believes that mountain biking has given him another way to spend bonding time with his Team Lakay brothers.
“Riding bikes is also a means of bonding with the team. Edward [Kelly], Honorio [Banario], Joshua [Pacio], and others love to share stories and chit-chat on our adventures. It builds camaraderie and improves teamwork,” he said.
“Outside the gym, Team Lakay is a family. We not only train together, but we also have fun together as well.”
