Greening down south

The city of Cebu is focused on an agenda for sustainable development. It has earned for itself the title of most “livable city” by way of its efforts  in waste segregation, its Cebu Hillylands reforestation caravan, and determined push for a zero-waste lifestyle.

The local government has also implemented the aggressive installation of LED streetlights. Joining the initiative to build a greener Cebu is JEG Development Corporation.

It is currently building the 22-storey JEG Tower @ One Acacia, one of the few buildings in the city to be recognized by LEED with a pre-certified silver rating. JDC’s first high-rise in Cebu will use less water, energy, and emit less greenhouse gases.

“Through JEG Tower @ One Acacia, we hope to encourage ourselves and other developers to push for a more sustainable approach to architecture and design,” said Chief Operations Officer Marko Sarmiento. The project is collaboration between JDC One Acacia Corporation, KMC Savills, Arcadis Philippines, and Casas + Architects.
