Committed to increase access to education by offering ICT-enabled education to vulnerable groups, Samsung kicked off its first lecture for the pioneering class of Grade 5 students of EM’s Signal Village Elementary School in Taguig City.

The six-month learning program aims to make computer science education more accessible to the Filipino youth. To make this possible, Samsung has partnered with Code.org, a non-profit digital educational platform dedicated to expanding access to computer science schools and increasing participation from underrepresented sectors.

“We are honored to be back here after two years and meet the pioneering batch of Samsung Junior Coders as we officially launch our first Coding for Kids program in the Philippines,” said Kevin Lee, country managing director of Samsung Philippines.

Samsung executives, Department of Education officials, and Taguig city officials led by Mayor Laarni Cayetano were on hand for the ribbon-cutting and Memorandum of Agreement signing.

Part of a global initiative, Coding for Kids will be soon rolled out across the country with hopes to bolster the digital skills program and improve its content.
