Derek and his pals are product endorsers of KYZOX Corp., the maker of the new-generation, all-natural anti-mosquito and anti-insect additives, which conceived a foundation that created a livelihood program, in partnership with different Rotary Clubs nationwide, in donating anti-mosquito paints for schools, hospitals and orphanages.

The Foundation also opens the opportunity for Senior Citizens and persons with disability (PWD) to sell devices and re-fills of their products in their respective barangays to make it accessible and available for everyone’s use.

“After all the hard work, after all the movies and teleseryes, hindi ko alam kung ano ang next chapter ng buhay ko and I’ve been doing a lot of charity work…all of these things are falling into place, then syempre may isa pang pasabog that I’ve been working on that I did not expect because ang mindset ko na lang talaga was papeli-pelikula na lang ako,” Derek said during a press interview.

Curious about the big revelation he was talking about, we asked if it’s something related to his ongoing talks with GMA Network.

Derek Ramsay during the grand launch of Rising Era Dynasty where welcomed some questions from the members of entertainment press.

“I wanted to concentrate on stuff like this, charity work,” referring to the brand he’s endorsing, which he said he’s doing pro bono, “but Lord has been blessing me so much. I have some talks with GMA. They were kind to invite my parents for a meeting. I had two talks with them already.”

So, is he a Kapuso now? “Hindi pa po,” he answered instantaneously and added, “We just had some talks, get to meet each other.”

Derek only had good words about his meeting with GMA executives and revealed that they already had some sort of “meeting of the mind.” But what he really appreciated with this rendezvous with GMA bigwigs is that they respect his decision to take everything into consideration and give their offer some thought.

Derek Ramsay finally opens up about rumors of his transfer to GMA. He said his camp already conducted meetings with GMA bigwigs and if things fall into their proper places he plans to be a Kapuso next year.

“I told them na sana by next year na mag-umpisa if ever, to set my mind and pag committed ako sa inyo, gusto ko 200 percent and ang dami kong ginagawa ngayon,” he explained.

The actor also revealed that his contract with TV5 expired in April and he had some talks as well with ABS-CBN. But it seems that the 41-year-old actor has his mind all set to being a Kapuso especially that his good pal, John Estrada, speaks highly of the network.

“I think it’s one of the factors why I’m continuing with the offer. John has nothing but nice words to say with GMA. He is enjoying his work right now. Wala siyang angal. Then when I met them, the GMA Executives, in the flesh, I felt that. I felt the sincerity and respect so that’s why there is a second meeting and hopefully a third meeting,” he beamed with his fingers crossed.

We chanced upon Hero Bautista one evening in a bar along Eugenio Lopez Drive during the monthly meeting of the members of the Society of the Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd).

QC councilor and occasional actor Hero Bautista

The occasional actor and younger brother of Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista animatedly sat on our table and immediately chatted with us when he saw some familiar faces. We learned that he filed his certificate of candidacy for councilor of the city’s fourth district and he was glad to share with us his plan for his district and the city if he gets re-elected.

Hero, who is an incumbent councilor, was accompanied by Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, councilor Gian Sotto, and his sister Harlene Bautista in filing his certificate of candidacy before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

“I felt their support that’s why I wanted to continue all the programs we have initiated including scholarship programs, medical and dental missions. We are also launching a unified ID system for the city,” he revealed.

The IDS he was referring to will link all government agencies in the city government that will allow residents do transactions without the hassle of providing different forms of identification. He’s also working on an a project for QC’s “junior citizens,” which he said would give residents between 29 and 59 years old discounts on medical and hospital expenses.
