National University and University of Santo Tomas scored straight-set wins against their respective foes to remain undefeated in the girls’ division of the UAAP Season 81 high school volleyball tournament Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Alyssa Solomon had 12 points, including two blocks, as the five-peat seeking Bullpups topped UP Integrated School, 25-8, 25-18, 25-13.
Regina Jurado and Imee Hernandez had nine and eight points, respectively, as the Junior Tigresses bested University of the East, 25-17, 25-12, 25-21.
Now sporting similar 3-0 slates, NU and UST dispute the solo lead in a rematch of last year’s championship series at 9 a.m. Sunday at the same Katipunan venue.
Sheena Toring also had two blocks to finish with nine points, while Faith Nisperos accounted five of the Bullpups’ 15 service aces.
Angel Canino had three blocks for a 16-point effort, while Jewel Encarnacion chipped in 11 hits, including two service aces as De La Salle-Zobel moved to solo third with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 win over Adamson University.
The Junior Lady Spikers rose to 2-1, while the Baby Falcons have lost two in a row after a 2-0 start in fourth place.
