Laguna claimed the solo lead in the National Basketball League after beating CamSur, 106-102, last Saturday at the Dominican College gym in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Shin Manacsa scored the go-ahead lay-up with 25 seconds left to claim a 103-102 lead and complete a comeback from a 24-point deficit.
Manacsa finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds as his heroics helped Laguna gain first place with a 5-1 win-loss record to break away from CamSur on top of the standings.
In the other game last Saturday, Vincent Gabriana had 26 points and eight rebounds as Dasmariñas Ballers Club defeated the Quezon City Rising Stars, 95-93, to pick up their second win in the league for homegrown talents being aired on Basketball TV and Solar Sports.
Last Sunday at the Antipolo Educational Sports Hub, the CamSur Express bounced back from their loss to Laguna after beating the Marikina Shoemakers, 86-69. Fredson Hermonio and Jayson Relata had 15 points each as the Express occupy second place with a 5-2 slate.
Romyl Jornacion had 15 points and converted a late three-pointer to lift the Rizal Spartans to their second win after a 76-69 decision over the Quezon City Rising Stars.
