Broadcast icon Ted Failon returns to Boracay to show the result of the government’s rehabilitation efforts and uncover other issues surrounding its closure in Failon Ngayon’s ninth anniversary special airing today at 11:00 p.m. on ABS-CBN.

On April 26 this year, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the island officially closed after reports showed its alarming condition caused by illegal construction and business operations, garbage problems, poor sanitation and sewage systems, lack of environmental safeguards, and more.

As Boracay prepares to reopen to the public this month, the multi-awarded broadcast journalist digs into the various changes implemented in the island in the past six months. Has Boracay recovered from the negative effects of tourism on the island’s resources? What happened to the local businesses and residents affected by the closure? What is the government doing to ensure the island’s preservation?

Ted and team search for answers to these questions as they continue their probe into the state of Boracay, which they first began investigating in 2012.

Since it premiered in 2009, Failon Ngayon has come up with in-depth features and documentaries that inform and enlighten Filipinos on the important issues in the country. Previous specials of the program that received great praises from viewers and netizens include “Pamana ng Mina” on the perils of mining in the country, and “Kalamidad sa Pabahay” on the plight of the residents of National Housing Authority (NHA)’s controversial housing projects.

Now on its 9th year, Ted and the program continues its fearless probing and reporting into topics that matter and have a direct impact to Filipinos.
