‘Ompong’ forces cancellation of UPCAT exams nationwide

Typhoon ‘‘Ompong’’ (international name ‘‘Mangkhut’’), has forced the postponement of the University of the Philippines College Admission Test scheduled this weekend.

In a radio interview, UP vice president for Public Affairs Jose Dalisay Jr. said that the typhoon will likely affect UPCAT’s examination centers nationwide.

The postponement of the UPCAT is nationwide. All examination centers are covered, from Luzon to Mindanao, even areas that will not be directly hit by the typhoon.) Dalisay said.

As in past exams, materials and protocols will come from Metro Manila, which is expected to be battered by heavy rains starting Friday.

Dalisay said the University of the Philippines may need at least two weeks more to study the situation and reschedule the UPCAT.

We need to draw new agreements for testing centers and proctors so resetting the UPCAT is not that easy.) Dalisay said.
