Five Chinese fugitives wanted in China for economic crimes were arrested by Bureau of Immigration agents in Angeles, Pampanga.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the aliens were arrested during an operation conducted by elements from the bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit at the Carmenville and Pulu Amsic subdivisions in Angeles City, Pampanga.
According to Morente, he issued the mission order to apprehend the aliens at the request of the Chinese embassy in Manila.
Those arrested were identified as Yin Lei, Zhang Xianle, Chen Di, Chen Manping, and Pan Jia Wei. They were immediately brought to the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.
“These fugitives are already undocumented aliens, as their passports were already canceled by the Chinese government,” the BI chief added.
He explained that once a foreigner’s passport is canceled, the latter automatically loses his privilege to stay in the country for being an undocumented alien.
