Teacups, clothes hanger, a clothes iron, a dishpan, a bike frame—these are just some of the household items featured in the Ikebana flower arrangements displayed during the three-day exhibit of Sogetsu Ikebana Manila branch.

Sogetsu Ikebana Manila on Aug 21-23 staged its 29th annual exhibit at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center. The display was open to the public during mall hours.

With the theme “At Home with Sogetsu,” members presented creations using unconventional materials found in the home together with fresh leaves and flowers.

The Sogetsu School of Ikebana, founded by Sofu Teshigahara in 1927, is known for an avant-garde style of Ikebana by allowing the arranger more freedom of expression and incorporating the use of unconventional materials in the arrangements.
