CHIC AND COMFORTABLE. Models showcase the four different ways to wear Rajo Laurel’s mother wrap he created for his collaboration with mother and childcare brand Philips Avent.

In celebration of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month this August, mother and childcare brand Philips Avent has collaborated with leading Filipino fashion designer Rajo Laurel to unveil a new collection for the label.

The Rajo x Philips Avent collection consists of an exclusively designed mother wrap and baby bag for every nursing Filipino mom.

It aims to provide support for mothers who wish to breastfeed in public, at home, at work, or when out and about.

Laurel created a stylish mother wrap to help moms feel confident and comfortable when feeding their baby; it can be worn in four different ways. The baby bag, on the other hand, was designed as a baby bag but fashionable enough for mothers to use as their personal handbag.

“Breastfeeding is an empowering act. It creates an intimate relationship between moms and their child emotionally and nutritionally. The same is true with fashion—it visually narrates your connection to the world quietly, yet with impact,” stated Laurel.

He added, “As a designer, I am thrilled to have been given a chance to marry these two concepts, and do it so with an innovative brand with proven and tested products.”

Rajo Laurel’s mother wrap aims to bring comfort to mothers who breastfeed in public, at home, or at work while still being fashionable.

The designer shared his inspiration for the collection was his sister who is a breastfeeding mother as well. From her, he said, he learned breastfeeding doesn’t just happen at home, but whenever and wherever, thus he realized that comfort and convenience for mothers are important when feeding their baby.

The Rajo X Philips Avent does not only promote the welfare of infants, but also allows for a more conducive nurturing environment for nursing mothers in public spaces.

Pia Umayam, Philips Personal Health lead said, “We Filipinas have always been inspired by the works of Rajo. He has always been passionate about elevating seemingly conventional clothes.”

She continued, “Being a leader in childcare category with over 25 years of experience in the Philippines, Philips Avent’s collaboration with Rajo is a source of pride and joy, because we know that the result of this partnership will enable Filipinas to breastfeed more comfortably.”
