“Bayongyong” is a term of the Gaddang tribe for a bamboo pole traditionally used by their members in collecting potable water from various sources.

Lantion said this year’s festival also features the Agri-Trade Fair, which showcases their various local products such as vegetables, fruits and native animals such as chickens and pigs.

“We are also encouraging other local government units to plant bamboos along their creeks and rivers so that we have a natural protection on flooding especially during the rainy season,” he said.

Lantion added the town is contemplating on applying for a loan for the massive implementation of the bamboo planting project in the municipality.

He said their Agri-Trade Fair was participated by 35 barangays which were clustered into five to simplify their exhibits and save space for smoother traffic flow of commuters within the town center.
